Hear the Illinois Council of Orchestras’ 2013 Community Orchestra of the Year – none other than the DuPage Symphony! – in an all orchestral program that showcases the warmth of the string sections, the virtuosity of the woodwinds, the resonance of the brass, and the power of the percussion. On the 200th anniversary of Giuseppe Verdi’s birth, the DSO opens the concert with his stirring Overture to the opera "Nabucco", followed by Ludwig van Beethoven’s exquisitely pictorial Symphony No. 6 in F Major, known as the "Pastoral". Modest Mussorgsky’s towering "Pictures at an Exhibition", rendered unforgettable by Maurice Ravel’s masterful orchestration, completes the menu for a brilliant evening brimming with orchestral splendors!
